Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The Intensivel Care Unit provides 24-hour intensive medical care for patients with life-threatening conditions or severe medical emergencies requiring constant monitoring and specialized treatment. These include conditions such as respiratory failure, severe cardiac disease, critical infections, major trauma, or acute kidney failure.

Services Provided by the Intensive Care Unit

  1. Continuous Monitoring and Care
ICU patients receive round-the-clock care from a team of doctors, nurses, and critical care specialists. Vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and blood oxygen levels are closely monitored.
  2. Treatment with Specialized Equipment
ICU patients may require advanced medical devices such as ventilators (for those unable to breathe independently), dialysis machines (for kidney failure), or monitoring systems to track organ function and heart activity.
  3. Medication and Intravenous Therapy
ICU patients typically receive medications and fluids intravenously to manage critical conditions. These may include medications for blood pressure regulation or antibiotics for severe infections, all strictly administered under physician supervision.
  4. Nutritional Support
If patients are unable to eat on their own, nutritional support is provided either intravenously or through enteral feeding (via a feeding tube) to maintain adequate nutrition and support recovery.
  5. Organ Support and Recovery
For patients with impaired organ function—such as the heart, kidneys, or lungs—treatment may include medication, ventilator support, or dialysis to help sustain and restore organ function.
  6. Psychological Support
In addition to physical treatment, ICU patients and their families receive emotional and psychological support to help them cope with the stress and uncertainty of critical illness.
  7. Monitoring and Treatment Adjustment
Since ICU patients often experience rapid changes in their condition, continuous monitoring and timely treatment adjustments are essential. The medical team frequently evaluates the patient’s status and modifies care plans as needed.
